Bashas' Campaign Kicks Off
Posted on 04/29/2016
A New Leaf and Bashas’ Family of Stores are partnering to provide shelter and support for victims of domestic violence and homelessness through an in-store fundraising campaign at Bashas’ Family of Stores locations statewide during the month of May (Food City and Bashas' Supermarkets).
Funds raised will benefit A New Leaf’s homeless and domestic violence shelters and programs inclusive of Faith House Domestic Violence Shelter in the West Valley and La Mesita Family Homeless Shelter, the East Valley Women’s Shelter, Autumn House Domestic Violence Shelter and East Valley Men’s Center in the East Valley.
One in every 227 Arizonans experienced homelessness last year alone. Approximately 40% of the total homeless population is families. Maricopa County reports the largest homeless population statewide. Housing is the most urgent need for victims of domestic violence.
A New Leaf Emergency Services served 3,866 adults and children last year, plus an additional 6,197 individuals with the Domestic Violence Crisis Line. By receiving a hand up rather than a hand out through a multitude of comprehensive services, A New Leaf residents and clients strive to become self-sufficient while they address their individual challenges.
A New Leaf for A New Start at Bashas’ offers shoppers the opportunity to purchase a $1 or $5 Leaf which in turn will be donated to help those in A New Leaf homeless and domestic violence shelters and support programs. Once donors make their purchase and post their selfie on A New Leaf’s facebook page at www.facebook.com/anewleaf, they will be entered into drawings for special prizes throughout May.
Bashas’ Family of Stores is a family owned and operated grocery chain started in 1932 by brothers Ike and Eddie Basha, Sr. Arizona’s hometown grocer has a vested interest in the neighborhoods it serves with more than 130 stores in 15 counties. A New Leaf is proud to partner with this iconic company.
