Men Shelter Dinner (Prepare & Serve 90)

Dinner suggestions:

  • One main course (Sloppy Joes, Chili, Crock pot meals, Casseroles, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, etc.)
  • salad (with choice of dressings)
  • vegetable
  • bread
  • dessert
  • beverage

Serving the meal:

  • The State Health Department requires that all volunteers involved with the food must first wash their hands and then wear serving gloves and serving hats (EVMC will provide).  A sink has been installed near the ice machine in the kitchen for hand washing purposes.
  • Security measures must be taken to ensure the temperature of hot food is at 140 degrees prior to serving.
  • All servers must be 18 years old or over.
  • Please dress appropriately for the men’s facility (no tank tops or short shorts).  We also ask that no caps or hats be worn during meals to set a good example to the residents.

Arrival time is set at 5:30pm for prep time. Meals are served at 6:00pm sharp to ensure that the men who have to go to work or an evening class can arrive on time. If for some reason you are running late, please call 480-610-6722 so we can anticipate your arrival time.

We also need to make your volunteer time “count”.  All volunteers are required to sign in each time they arrive with their name, *address, phone number & email (*first time only unless changed). We also like to send thank you notes so don’t skip the sign in sheet! Capturing the number of volunteers and hours helps us to acquire financial support from many of our funders.  (Names and contact information are confidential and will not be passed along. If you do not wish to receive A New Leaf monthly volunteer updates, please let us know).

Thank you so much for your generosity, assistance and support in providing meals at EVMC.  It is truly appreciated.

For questions or concerns, please contact Chelsie Akers or Margaret Taylor at  480-464-4648.
