At A New Leaf, we embody the philosophy of helping versus providing…and our clients appreciate this especially in regards to this holiday-meal program. We respectfully encourage and request grocery store gift-cards for all our clients/families, so our clients can do their own shopping, choose and purchase their culturally specific holiday meal ingredients, then prepare it together to honor their traditions.* Feedback is that the responsibility and ownership our clients feel when choosing their food, shopping and preparing their meal is pride and empowerment.
*Exception for Men’s Center where there is no cooking on site.
