Linette moved to Arizona to find a new start, but when finding work proved difficult, that new start began to look down. While she had savings to keep her afloat for a few months, they were quickly running out, and eventually she fell behind on her electric bill.

“I had been careful with my money, but after a few months of unemployment I couldn’t keep up with my bills. I was worried every day that my electricity was going to be shut off, leaving me in over 100 degree heat.”

“Times have been hard, especially lately. So I decided to do everything I could to make a five year plan that would get me into a more stable place.”

That’s when Linette reached out for help and received emergency assistance to keep her electricity on. While it was a temporary solution that kept her from crisis, she never wanted to be in the same situation again. “I didn’t like asking for help, but I knew I needed it. Times have been hard, especially lately. So I decided to do everything I could to make a five year plan that would get me into a more stable place.”

That five year plan started when Linette enrolled in A New Leaf’s BankWork$ program, a training course lasting 8 weeks that sets participants up for a job in the banking industry.

“I knew that if I could land a better job, I would be able to go back to school and get my Bachelors in Business Administration. So that’s what I did, through the BankWork$ program, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it otherwise.”

Linette received assistance with her resume, worked on her interviewing skills, and participated in a rigorous curriculum focused on increasing her income and job stability.

“I am graduating from the program this week and already have a job offer from Wells Fargo, in the area I wanted to work. This will help me achieve so much.”

“I am graduating from the program this week and already have a job offer from Wells Fargo, in the area I wanted to work. I never thought my life could change so dramatically, so quickly. This will help me achieve so much.”

Thanks to the BankWork$ program, Linette has started her dream career and plans to enroll in college soon. She is finally moving towards achieving her dreams. “I cannot thank you enough, everyone that makes this program possible. You are truly changing peoples’ lives forever. You changed my life, that’s for sure.”
