Over 150 volunteers from State Farm joined together Thursday, November 11 to assemble care packages for veterans served by A New Leaf, a local non-profit serving those most in need across the Valley. In just one morning, volunteers assembled over 1,500 care packages, containing frequently requested items and a special message to thank them for their service. The care packages will go to veterans served by emergency shelter, supportive housing, employment development, and the Veterans Business Outreach Center, which provides assistance for veterans interested in starting a small business.
“State Farm is such an important partner to us,” said Michael Hughes, CEO of A New Leaf. “Not only do they support A New Leaf financially, but their employees truly care about our mission of ‘Helping Families…Changing Lives.’ They are constantly giving back, volunteering, and supporting those in need in our community. We could not do it without them!”
There are an estimated 520,000 veterans living in Arizona – one of the nation’s highest veteran populated states. “A New Leaf is proud to be part of the community efforts to end homelessness for veterans and to ensure our heroes find and maintain stability and well-being,” said Laura Bode, Director of Community Engagement at A New Leaf.
