A New Leaf offers a variety of services to youth and young adults to help them learn and grow by building knowledge, skills and abilities. These comprehensive programs include:

  • Detention Alternative Program
  • Continuum of Services for Adolescent Sexual Maladaptive Behaviors

Detention Alternative Program

Alice Peterson Residence is a 30-day residential program offering an alternative to juvenile detention for boys ages 12-17 who are referred by the court and corrections systems. Among other services, this program includes:

  • On-site certified education
  • Individual, group and family counseling

Continuum of Services for Adolescents with Sexual Maladaptive Behaviors

Intensive Residential Program (IRP) - Level I (Males age 12-17)
Licensed and accredited Specialized Intensive Residential Treatment program in Mesa for the resolution of adolescent sexual conflict. The program's individual attention and treatment has been designed to positively impact the client, family members and community. Special focus is given to identify and prepare a viable post-placement option for discharge, targeted within five months of intake.

  • Reduce youth's out-of-home duration compared to traditional residential treatment.
  • Increase Clinical Intervention hours vs. traditional residential and community-based programs.
  • Reduce risk to victims in the home and community by separation and treatment for both.
  • Enhance youth and family treatment gains in a community-based program post discharge.
  • Remove barriers to expedite transitioning youth back to the community.
  • Provide a cost neutral (annualized) alternative to residential treatment when utilizing the combined Level 1 IRP and community-based IOP treatment.

Therapeutic Foster Care - HCTC Program (Males and Females age 8-17)
Licensed Therapeutic Foster Care Program offering specialized home placements in the Greater Phoenix Area for youth with sexual maladaptive behaviors. This program provides children and adolescents the opportunity to live in a nurturing and stable environment with a "family-like structure" and to prevent "at risk" children and adolescents from going to higher levels of care.

Youth Intensive Outpatient Program - IOP (Males age 12-17)
Licensed Intensive Outpatient Program located in Mesa, offers specialized treatment for the resolution of adolescent boys with sexual maladaptive behaviors. Services include individual and family therapy, group process, safety planning, case management and skill development up to 5 days a week.

Open Arms Program (Males and Females age 8-17)
Home-based family and community-centered support services for youth in their environments, who are addressing sexually acting-out behaviors including, but not limited to inappropriate touch , sexual offending , promiscuity, poor boundaries, sexual reactivity, sexual acting out related to a history of being sexually abused. Intensity of services is based on individual need.

Young Men's Intensive Outpatient Program (age 18-25)
Licensed Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) located in Mesa, offers specialized treatment for young men with sexual maladaptive behaviors. Services include individual therapy, group process, case management, safety planning and skill development. Groups are provided 3 days a week.

Eaton School is school available to youth participating in above identified programs. Eaton School is administered by the Mesa Public School District. This North Central Association accredited, self-contained school provides junior and high school classes with special education programs for residential youth, emotionally-disabled and learning-disabled students.
