Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

What is VITA?

A New Leaf’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is a powerful anti-poverty tool, providing free tax preparation services ensuring that hard-working individuals receive the maximum benefits available without losing hundreds of dollars in paid-preparer fees.

During the 2019-20 tax season, 3,714 households and individuals who had their taxes prepared at VITA sites located throughout the West Valley received an estimated 6 million dollars in Federal & State tax refunds, and saved over an estimated $800,000 in Tax preparation fee.

Get started with VITA

A New Leaf’s VITA Program hosts tax assistance locations at community and neighborhood centers, churches, schools, community colleges, and other convenient locations across the west valley, generously donated by local businesses and community partners.

Start by downloading and completing an intake packet.

Once you have completed your intake packet, please drop it off at one of our locations.

What else do I need to do to use the VITA Program?

A New Leaf’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program offers free tax assistance to households who make $57,000 or less for the taxes to be prepared at the sites. Services focus on community members with disabilities, the elderly, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

There is NO INCOME LIMITATION for taxpayers using the Facilitated Self Assistance (FSA) also known as “Self-Prep” or “Do-It-Yourself” option, also available at the sites. Just make sure to bring all your documents.
