The Arizona State Charitable Tax Credit: What is it?

The Charitable Tax Credit is an Arizona Tax Credit that is also known as the Credit for Contributions to Qualifying Charitable Organizations (1). After choosing a charitable organization that qualified, such as A New Leaf, you can donate your tax credit contribution and file the amount donated under the AZDOR Form 321 (2). However, there is a $400 limit for singles and a $800 limit for couples to donate (3). The state will reimburse your donations, dollar for dollar, when you file for your state tax returns, during the next Tax Return Period. All you need is a simple donation receipt, supplied by A New Leaf.

What is the use of this charitable tax credit? How would it help A New Leaf and other non-profits? Your donations help provide shelter, food, safety, and support to families and individuals that are homeless because of different situations. Domestic Violence, unfortunate termination or illness can leave families suddenly without a home – but this doesn’t need to be the case. Your donations can provide a hot meal to a family experiencing homelessness, give safety to a survivor of Domestic Violence or help an adult facing poverty find a long-term career.

By helping these families, you are keeping your tax money in your local community, and are working to resolve homelessness in Maricopa County. A New Leaf can break up donations to monthly amounts, by taking a Monthly Payment Option you can give in small disbursements the resources needed to help people.
